Subject:Contacts of the Cypriot Tourism Deputy Minister in Jordan

The Cypriot Deputy Minister of Tourism, Mr. Savvas Perdios, had contacts with high officials of tourism in Jordan. Mr. Perdios travelled to Jordan following an invitation of the Jordanian Council for Tourism during 3-4 April 2019. 
According to an announcement issued, the Deputy Tourism Minister was accompanied by representatives of the private sector, such as hotel owners and representatives of the Tourist Agents’ Association of Cyprus. 

The Deputy Minister of Tourism, along with the Cypriot delegation, also attended a workshop with Jordanian tourism businessmen, with the purpose of examining prospects for cooperation in various sectors. 

More specifically, they examined issues of digital promotion of local tourist experiences, the prospects of common tourist packages for the two countries especially during the winter months. 

Moreover, Mr. Perdios also held a press conference in Amman, with the Jordanian media. It is hereby noted that the visit took place in the framework of the enhancement of the tourist relations between Jordan and Cyprus, but also the enforcement of the trilateral between Cyprus-Greece-Jordan, which includes tourism, and which will be further enhanced through the visit of the President of the Republic of Jordan in the coming week, for the trilateral. 
It is noted that there is a daily air connection between the two countries, while the weekly flight number is 11. The total number of visitors from Jordan rose from 8,585 in 2017, to 15,250 in 2018.
